Raipur: Hundreds of DEd-qualified candidates protesting delay in their appointments released a 2023 video of BJP leader Choudhary, who was then in opposition, questioning alleged irregularities in the assistant teacher recruitment process, and accused him of remaining silent after becoming a minister.
The protesters said Choudhary had earlier raised their concerns but was now silent on the appointment of around 2,300 DEd candidates, questioning why appointments against 1,316 posts remained pending despite their demand for financial approval.
They alleged that funds meant for DEd candidates had been used to accommodate dismissed B.Ed candidates and sought an explanation, while questioning why no action had been taken over alleged irregularities involving the 1,316 posts despite Chhattisgarh high court directives. The candidates, who said they had been protesting for 263 days, also referred to an allegation that those seeking access to the finance minister’s official residence were told they had come to “create trouble” at the bungalow.
Saying the minister may have faced questions from youths for a few hours whereas DEd candidates had been struggling for 256 days, they asked, “If listening to the voices of youths is the essence of youth dialogue, when will the voice of 2,300 DEd candidates be heard?”
They said the video reflected Choudhary’s earlier stand on the recruitment issue and accused him of changing his position after assuming office.
