Hyderabad: A 40-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter died after a fire broke out in their house in Narayanadasguda village, Chevella, Rangareddy, in the early hours of Monday. Police have registered a suspicious death case and are probing all angles, including the possible involvement of the woman’s husband. The deceased were identified as Lavanya, 40, and her teenage daughter Pavani. According to police, the family had been living in the village for nearly two decades. Both victims sustained severe burn injuries and were initially shifted to a local govt hospital before being referred to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad, where they succumbed to their injuries. The fire reportedly broke out around 4 am in the two-bedroom house. While initial suspicion pointed to an electrical short circuit, further examination by the clues team and the electricity department ruled out that possibility, prompting police to treat the case as suspicious.“The mother and daughter suffered extensive burn injuries. The husband also sustained injuries, while the son was staying with his grandparents at the time of the incident. Since an electrical fault has been ruled out, we are investigating all possible causes. We are not ruling out anyone’s involvement,” a Chevella police officer said.Fire tenders from the Chevella fire station reached the spot promptly and doused the flames within 15–20 minutes. A suspicious death case has been registered at Chevella police station, and further investigation is under way. Lavanya is survived by her husband, Srinivas, a vegetable vendor, and her son.
