Jaipur: Prakhar Asawa of Rambagh Golf Club, the No. 1 ranked golf player from Rajasthan, displayed an excellent performance on the third day with 7 birdies and 1 bogey to jump to tied 9th at the Chennai Open National Golf Championship being held at TNGF–Cosmo Golf Course on Thursday.Prakhar, who was lying joint 23rd on Wednesday, came up with an exceptional round of 6 under par displaying brilliant all round golfing abilities to move up in top-10.On Thursday, the golf course was exceptionally difficult with high temperature accompanied by humid conditions and heavy cross winds. The TNGF–Cosmo Golf Course presents a compact yet demanding test, with the par-72 layout measuring around 6,225 yards in tournament play. Its challenge lies less in length and more in accuracy, positioning and smart course management.The tighter front nine places a premium on finding fairways, while the back nine offers relatively more room but still demands precision into strategically protected greens. Tree-lined corridors, rough, well-placed bunkers and Bermuda grass difficult to read greens add to the challenge, with the putting surfaces capable of becoming firm and quick in Chennai’s heat.Hot and humid conditions, temperatures around 35-36°C, possible afternoon thundery showers and a strengthening coastal breeze also influenced play. Players need to manage ball flight, club selection, hydration and concentration carefully to play well.Overall, the course rewards accurate driving, controlled approach play, confident putting and the ability to adapt quickly to changing wind and weather conditions.
