Chennai: Chennai Metro Rail ridership rebounded in June after schools and colleges reopened, with an average of 3.2 lakh passengers travelling daily. CMRL said 96.75 lakh passengers used metro services during the month, up from 90.14lakhs (daily average of 2.9 lakh) in May, when ridership dipped due to the summer vacation. The highest daily ridership of 3.77 lakh was recorded on June 24. Among ticketing modes, 48.8 lakh passengers travelled using the Singara Chennai Card (National Common Mobility Card), while 19.3 lakh used paper QR tickets. Another 12 lakh passengers booked tickets through Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) apps.
