ERODE: Madras high court has directed the Erode district administration to seal 42 illegal resorts operating in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) area, which spans 1,411.6 square km, citing concerns over ecological harm.The court said the resorts functioned without proper authorisation and posed a threat to the ecological balance of the protected area.Officials were instructed to complete the sealing process within three weeks.The directive on Tuesday followed earlier complaints and inspections that highlighted the unchecked growth of such resorts.The court reminded district officials of their responsibility to enforce the order and ensure strict compliance with forest conservation laws.
