A final-year law student was arrested by the Shankar Nagar All Women Police in Chennai for creating and uploading morphed obscene images of a fellow student on social media. During the investigation, police found that he had similarly altered photographs of other women, including students, professors and a few of his nieces too, using his mobile phone.

Police said he had similarly altered photographs of other women, including students, faculty members and a few of his nieces too using his mobile phone.The suspect, Kaleeswaran, 23, of Chromepet is a final-year student at a private law college in Pallavaram.Police said a woman student in the same college lodged a complaint after discovering that an obscene morphed version of her photograph was circulated in social media. The Pallavaram police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation with assistance from the cyber crime wing.The investigation traced the origin of the image to Kaleeswaran’s mobile phone. The case was subsequently transferred to the Shankar Nagar all women police who nabbed the suspect. His mobile phone was seized for forensic examination.Police said the examination of the device revealed multiple morphed obscene images of women, including fellow students, college faculty members and a few relatives. Investigators also found that some of the images had been uploaded on social media platforms.Following the investigation, Kaleeswaran was arrested and taken to the Tambaram Government Hospital for a medical examination. He was later produced before a magistrate court in Tambaram and remanded in judicial custody.
