Chatra: Three persons have been arrested in the March 30 kidnapping and murder case of Guddu Munda (21), a resident of Dungun village in Chatra district, police said on Saturday.The arrested were identified as Mahesh Ganjhu, Nitesh Kumar Ganjhu, and Kamlesh Kumar, all residents of Dungun village, police added.Simaria SDPO Nagargoje Shubham Bhau Saheb said, “Acting on a kidnapping complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Santosh Munda, at Lawalong police station on May 15, a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted. Several suspects were detained from the village on Friday on the basis of technical evidence and local inputs. One of the suspects, Mahesh Ganjhu, allegedly disclosed details of the crime during interrogation.”“Guddu was allegedly in a relationship with Rita Devi, the mother of one of key accused Rakesh Munda, of the same village. Upset over the relationship, Rakesh conspired with his associates to eliminate him. The accused waylaid Guddu near Mandhaniya valley on March 30 after forcing him to get off a moving bus. He was assaulted, taken to the Mandhaniya-Hahe forest area and killed. The body was buried to destroy evidence,” he added.Based on the statement of the arrested accused, the body was exhumed on Saturday and sent to the Chatra sadar hospital for post-mortem examination. Raids are under way to nab alleged mastermind Rakesh Munda, police added.
