Chatra: The Chatra administration on Saturday felicitated students who excelled in this year’s matric and intermediate examinations, under the ‘Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’.Presenting certificates and prizes to toppers at the district and block levels, DC Ravi Anand urged students to stay committed to their goals through hard work and discipline. “Success is the result of continuous effort, dedication and perseverance,” he added. Out of the 17,577 students from Chatra district who took the Class X examination, 16,031 passed. In the intermediate examination, the arts stream recorded 8,420 successful candidates out of the registered 8,787. In commerce, 134 of 138 students cleared the examination. In science, 2,454 out of 2,985 students passed.Varsha Kumari of Jharkhand Balika Vidyalaya, Mayurhand, secured the top position in arts in the district by scoring 450 marks. Daughter of Pankaj Singh and Aarti Devi of Sadafar village in Mayurhand block, Varsha said, “Becoming a topper is no less than a dream come true, and getting honoured by the DC makes it even more special.”Akanksha Kumari of SS Plus Two High School, Simaria, secured 481 marks in science stream and topped the district. “There is a shortage of doctors and the poor people often do not get timely treatment. Hence, I want to pursue a career in medical field and serve society,” said the third rank holder in science in the state.In commerce, Akanksha Kumari of KGBV Itkhori secured the highest marks with 436 marks.
