Bokaro: A popular theme park in Chas was sealed on Friday for allegedly failing to clear outstanding dues of Rs 62.81 lakh. The Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) also served a notice directing the operator of Amrit Park Phase –I and Amrit Park Phase –II, located near ITI More, to deposit the due within a week.A nine-member municipal team sealed the premises after an inspection.“The CMC has warned that failure to clear the dues within seven days could lead to the agency being blacklisted. An FIR would be lodged against the operator and steps initiated to recover the outstanding amount. Materials installed inside the park may also be seized,” Chas mayor Bholu Paswan said on Friday.Civic body officials said an agreement was signed with the agency for operations and maintenance of both phases in 2021. The annual settlement amount was fixed at Rs 17.26 lakh, with a provision for a 5% yearly increase along with GST. The agency received operating rights for 10 years, subject to conditions, including a ban on permanent construction on the premises.Officials said despite several notices, the operator did not take permanent structures which were built on the premises. The operator also failed to pay up the dues, which included depositing 40% of the revenue fetched from weddings and others functions on the premises, with the CMC. Irregular deposits added to the dues, and CMC terminated the agreement for alleged non-payment.
