T’puram: The partially-charred body of a senior clerk attached to Vellanad block panchayat was found in a rubber plantation near his residence at Vembayam on Saturday, triggering suspicion of foul play. The deceased was identified as Shihabudeen, 52, of Konchira Nalumukku Cherakonam. According to police, the body was first noticed by a local, who alerted Vattappara police. On reaching the spot, officers found empty plastic bottles near the body, while his motorcycle was located on a nearby road. The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised doubts about whether it was a case of suicide or murder. Forensic experts and fingerprint personnel conducted a detailed examination of the scene and collected evidence. Police said they were examining all possible angles, including personal and professional aspects, to ascertain the cause of death. Police said the deceased was also suffering from heart-related ailments. After completing inquest proceedings, the body was shifted to the govt medical college Thiruvananthapuram for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Vattappara police registered a case and initiated a detailed probe. Officials said further clarity will emerge once the postmortem report and forensic analysis are completed. tnn
