The much-anticipated ‘petrol langar’ event in Chandigarh, which was set to distribute free fuel coupons, has been postponed due to heavy rainfall

CHANDIGARH: A social media announcement about a “petrol langar” offering free fuel coupons drew a large crowd to a petrol station here on Tuesday, but the event was postponed after heavy rain lashed the city.Rakesh Trehan, also known as “Raja D King”, had announced that the petrol langar would be held on August 18. In a video posted on social media, he said the event was postponed to avoid inconvenience to people due to the rain.Under the scheme, owners of two-wheelers and three-wheelers were to receive free petrol coupons worth Rs 500, while four-wheeler owners were promised coupons worth Rs 1,000.Trehan said the event had been rescheduled for Friday and that the distribution would continue for three days until Sunday.Despite the postponement, a large number of people gathered near the designated petrol station in Sector 10 on Tuesday evening, apparently based on the earlier announcement. Several people said they waited for hours but did not receive any coupons.“I reached here despite heavy rain. I have been waiting here for two hours, but no free coupon was given. Now, we are told that coupons will be given on Friday,” said a youth at the petrol station.Trehan had recently told reporters that he planned to donate 90% of his wealth. He said he wanted to give away most of the wealth inherited from his father as well as 90% of his own wealth. He also said he had worked as a crypto trader and had earlier invested in the stock market.Recently, Trehan distributed food items along with Rs 500 cash to several needy people in Chandigarh and claimed that he would next distribute iPhones.
