Chandigarh: The city’s young pugilists put up an impressive show at the 5th Sub-Junior National Boys & Girls Boxing Championships, clinching four medals — including two gold and two bronze.International boxer Mehul Rana of SD School, Sector 32, won gold in the boys’ 70kg category, defeating a Punjab opponent in the final. Mehul, who has represented India at the Sub-Junior Asian Championships in Uzbekistan, continued his strong run with another national title.Saurav of the Boxing Coaching Centre (BCC), Sector 42, also struck gold, winning the boys’ 35kg category after beating his Haryana rival in the final.Chandigarh added two bronze medals through Rudransh in the boys’ +70kg category and Sakshi in the girls’ 49kg event, taking the tally to four.Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) president Satish Chandra, chairman Dr CK Jerath and Charanjit Singh Virk congratulated the winners and expressed confidence in their future performances.
