Chandrapur: A political storm erupted in Chandrapur Municipal Corporation’s general body meeting on Thursday after corporator and Mahanagar Aghadi group leader Pappu alias Pradeep Deshmukh sought removal of mayor Sangeeta Khandekar, accusing her of serious dereliction of duty and deliberate violation of statutory municipal rules.Submitting a detailed written memorandum through municipal commissioner Aknuri Naresh to the state’s urban development department, Deshmukh alleged that the mayor intentionally failed to convene mandatory general body meetings for nearly three months after the civic elections to delay the appointment of nominated members.
