Chandrapur: The internal feud within the Congress in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC) appears to have intensified, with three corporators from MP Pratibha Dhanorkar’s faction reportedly switching allegiance to MLA Vijay Wadettiwar’s camp. The three corporators — Mahananda Walke, Vinod Labhane, and Akash Mankar — are understood to have moved away from the Dhanorkar faction. They were reportedly taken outside Chandrapur on Wednesday night, triggering speculation that the Wadettiwar faction now has the support of 14 corporators, against 13 with the Dhanorkar camp. The development is significant as the Wadettiwar faction is reportedly preparing to seek the removal of Congress group leader Surendra Adbale.Congress is the largest party in the 27-member House, but internal factionalism enabled the BJP to form the civic administration. Earlier, corporators from both Congress factions had backed Rajesh Adur as group leader. However, after a prolonged dispute, Adbale was elected with the support of 16 corporators. The group leader issue had also reached the court. With nominated-member appointments still pending, the latest realignment is being viewed as an attempt by the Wadettiwar camp to change the group leader and secure representation for its faction.
