Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda conducted a padayatra in KG Koppal, under Ward No. 42 of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), on Wednesday, interacting with residents and addressing civic grievances on the spot.The padayatra began at 8.45 am after the MLA, accompanied by local leaders and officials, offered prayers at the Shri Chandramouleshwara Swamy Temple. He then visited households across the locality, listening to residents’ concerns and directing officials to take immediate action wherever possible.Residents raised several long-pending issues, including damaged roads, overflowing drains, inadequate drinking water supply, leaning electricity poles, malfunctioning streetlights and poor sanitation. People living near the Chamarajapuram railway station sought urgent road development and drainage improvements, while several women complained of irregular water supply, especially during festival seasons.Responding to the grievances, Harishgowda directed Vani Vilasa Water Works executive engineer Mohan Kumar and assistant executive engineer Mustafa to prepare an action plan to improve water distribution across the ward. He also instructed CESC officials to replace damaged electricity poles and restore streetlights without delay.Residents submitted petitions seeking solutions to civic problems as well as assistance with pensions, voter list corrections and other govt services. Revenue officials and zonal authorities present at the programme received the applications, resolved issues that could be addressed immediately, and assured residents that the remaining grievances would be resolved within a stipulated timeframe.Speaking on the occasion, Harishgowda said the initiative was aimed at bringing elected representatives and govt officials closer to the people to ensure quicker redressal of grievances. He instructed officials to eliminate delays in extending the benefits of welfare schemes such as Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi and social security pensions, and to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive them without difficulty.
