Kolkata: CenturyPly, the Kolkata-based plywood and veneer manufacturer, has drawn up a roadmap to double its turnover to around Rs 12,000 crore by 2031 through capacity expansion across the country. The company plans to invest about Rs 2,500 crore over the next five years to support the expansion.The company, which currently has nine manufacturing facilities in Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Karnal, Kandla, Hoshiarpur and Badvel, among others, has an annual turnover of around Rs 6,000 crore.“We are targeting revenue of Rs 12,000 crore by 2031. It’s the right time to invest in Bengal. Century Ports Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of CenturyPly has been awarded the responsibility to develop, operate and maintain the Kidderpore Dock-I (West) terminal under PPP model,” said executive director Keshav Bhajanka.As part of its expansion strategy, CenturyPly will set up two new manufacturing plants in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, while expanding its existing facility at Hoshiarpur in Punjab to begin plywood production.“At the Hoshiarpur facility, we manufacture medium-density fibreboard (MDF) now. We have chosen land in UP where we want to set up a plant to manufacture plywood and MDF. We are also lookingt for land to set up another plant in Orissa where plywood will be manufactured. In the first phase, we will invest around Rs 250 crore for the upcoming plants each,” said Bhajanka.Executive director Nitika Bansal said the company would invest Rs 30 crore-60 crore to expand its existing manufacturing facilities. She also announced a 10-year consumer assurance programme for Club Prime and Architect Ply products.“It’s a 10-year guarantee and we will reimburse the furniture-related cost including adhesives, labour and transport, if any defect is found,” she said.
