Hyderabad: The Centre has selected Mulugu district in Telangana under the ‘Inclusive cities for women and girls’ initiative, funded through the Nirbhaya fund, aimed at creating safer and more gender-responsive urban and semi-urban spaces.Panchayat raj, women and child welfare minister D Anasuya Seethakka met Union women and child development minister Annpurna Devi in New Delhi on Saturday and said the Telangana women and child welfare department would coordinate with the district administration to prepare a detailed project report for implementing the initiative in Mulugu. The project focuses on improving women’s safety by strengthening gender-sensitive infrastructure, including advanced surveillance systems, improved mobility services and faster emergency response mechanisms for women and girls. Thanking the Union minister for selecting Mulugu district, Seethakka assured her that the Telangana govt remained committed to strengthening safety measures for women in both rural and urban areas. “This project would further help in enhancing and improving security and dignity for women and girls,” she said.During the meeting, Seethakka also submitted a representation seeking an increase in wages for Anganwadi workers and helpers.
