Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology- Kanpur has strengthened its clinical support systems through the expansion and restructuring of its Institute Counselling Service, now established as the Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing (CMHW). With the establishment of the CMHW the institute exhibits its committment to the well-being of its students and the larger campus community, with a structured approach focusing on both the clinical support and mental health awareness.The Centre currently has ten full-time psychologists, one full-time psychiatrist, and three consultant psychiatrists to ensure continuity of care and specialised intervention when required.For making it accessible to all 24/7, the IIT-K has partnered with ‘YourDOST’, a third-party counselling and telephonic support service that is available 24/7. The institute has also initiated preventive infrastructural measures. Regular sensitisation programmes are conducted for students and faculty, along with workshops, Hall visits, and open dialogues to encourage conversations around mental well-being. . TNN
