Hyderabad: In a significant boost to the Telangana govt’s plan to provide a road and rail network between the Outer Ring Road, Regional Ring Road, districts and other states, the central govt has approved a survey for the proposed regional ring rail.Union minister of state for railways Ravneet Singh informed Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy that the survey for the regional ring rail around Hyderabad has been sanctioned, based on which the detailed project report could be prepared.In a written reply to the Bhongir MP on March 6, Ravneet Singh said that, after the preparation of the DPR, project approval would require appraisal by NITI Aayog and the finance ministry.“The survey for the Regional Ring Rail around Hyderabad city was sanctioned as a first step towards preparing the DPR of the project. The proposed railway alignment is likely to run along the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and is currently being finalised in consultation with the Telangana govt,” MP Kiran Kumar Reddy said.“After the DPR is prepared, the project would require consultations with various stakeholders, including the state govt, and necessary approvals, such as appraisal by NITI Aayog and the Union finance ministry, before final sanction is granted,” Ravneet Singh stated in the written reply to the Congress MP.The Union minister shared the update in response to an issue raised by Reddy under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha regarding the railway line project in Hyderabad.The proposed Regional Ring Rail project, once completed, is expected to improve transport connectivity between districts surrounding Hyderabad and provide a boost to regional economic development, according to Kiran Kumar Reddy.
