Ulhasnagar will receive a significant Rs 211 crore water supply project.

ULHASNAGAR: Ulhasnagar is set to receive a major boost to its drinking water infrastructure after the Centre approved a Rs 211 crore water supply project under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.The project is aimed at modernising the city’s ageing water distribution network, reducing water losses and ensuring a reliable supply of potable water to its growing population.Following the approval, Ulhasnagar mayor Ashwini Kamlesh Nikam, BJP MLA Kumar Ailani, Shiv Sena district president Gopal Landge and former MLA Pappu Kalani jointly addressed a joint press conference, thanking Kalyan MP Dr Shrikant Shinde for his efforts in securing the funding for the city.The leaders also expressed gratitude to the Centre for sanctioning one of the biggest water infrastructure projects for Ulhasnagar.Mayor Nikam said, “Once commissioned, the project is expected to provide a more reliable and efficient water supply to lakhs of residents across Ulhasnagar.”MP Dr Shrikant Shinde thanked the Union government for approving the proposal and also expressed gratitude to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde and deputy chief minister Sunetra Pawar for extending support to the project.The project comprises the construction of an intake well, jackwell, pump house, modern water treatment plant, raw water rising mains, solar power infrastructure, a new water distribution network and other allied facilities.Ailani said, “We have already set up new pipeline across city and new fund will help to construct water treatment plant from Ulhas river and other facilities like water tanks and other required facilities which are pending strengthening the city’s distribution system to meet future population growth”.
