Srinagar, Oct 18: The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has abolished two temporarily added posts of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) in Jammu and Kashmir with retrospective effect from August 1, 2026.
According to an office order issued by the ministry on October 16, the abolished positions comprise one cadre post and one ex-cadre post in the Jammu and Kashmir segment of the Indian Forest Service (IFS).
The order, issued on the recommendation of the Joint Cadre Authority, states that the two posts stand abolished with effect from August 1, 2026, in continuation of the ministry’s earlier order dated August 7, 2025.
As per the order, the posts were initially created temporarily for two years with effect from August 1, 2022, under a ministry order dated January 12, 2022.
Their tenure was subsequently extended for one year, from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, through an order issued on August 28, 2024.
The ministry later granted another extension beyond July 31, 2025, before deciding to abolish both positions.
The order relates to the two temporarily added PCCF-level posts and does not indicate abolition of the regular PCCF establishment in Jammu and Kashmir.
