Bengaluru: A 29-year-old teacher was killed after a speeding cement mixer truck hit her scooter at Gundappa Circle on Hennur–Bagalur Main Road early Sunday.Manasa was knocked down around 6.45am while riding towards her examination centre. She was a teacher at a private school in Mandur and had travelled from her home in Hoskote to stay with relatives in Bagalur to attend the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) at Delhi Public School near Sathanur.

Police said Manasa was wearing a helmet and riding cautiously when the truck, returning after unloading cement mixture at the KIADB industrial area, struck her from behind. She suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.Family members told investigators that Manasa was four months pregnant. The driver of the truck, Ram, 46, a native of West Bengal, was arrested soon after the accident. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Manasa’s relative. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem at Yelahanka government hospital.SUV injures boy In another incident Saturday evening, an 11-year-old boy was injured while riding a bicycle near his home at Girinagar First Cross in south Bengaluru.Police said an SUV parked on the roadside began moving suddenly when the driver failed to notice the child. The vehicle hit the bicycle, throwing the boy to the ground. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital and is said to be stable.A senior officer said no formal complaint or medico legal case memo had been received from the family so far. However, CCTV footage from a nearby building has been circulating widely on social media, prompting police to examine the incident on their own.
