Nagpur: A CCTV trail that began with a roadside bag-snatching case led police to a suspected serial thief, Harsh alias Ekka Ramteke (25), who was allegedly found hiding in a car near Hudkeshwar tunnel.As per police, on Sept 12 a man riding a two-wheeler allegedly snatched a bag from a woman near Santoshi Mata temple on Narsala Road around 10.30am. The bag contained Rs10,000 cash, a mobile phone and documents, with the total value of the stolen property estimated to be around Rs15,000.Investigators examined multiple CCTV cameras in the vicinity before identifying Ramteke, a resident of Tiroda in Gondia district, as the accused.While searching for the suspect, police received information that he was near Hudkeshwar tunnel in a car. A police team rushed to the spot and took Ramteke into custody.During questioning, police said Ramteke allegedly admitted to bag-snatching and also disclosed details of two earlier vehicle thefts. Police said he allegedly stole a scooter near Dighori on Sept 6 and abandoned it after riding it towards Tumsar when it ran out of fuel. The following day, he allegedly stole a bike from Tumsar and returned to Nagpur.Police are now investigating whether the accused is linked to other similar thefts in the city.
