Prayagraj: Prayagraj region stood last among the 22 regions of the country in overall pass percentage in the CBSE Class XII Board results declared on Wednesday.In comparison to the national pass percentage of 85.20% (which was 3.19% less than 2025), the pass percentage of Prayagraj region is 72.43%.In 2025 too, Prayagraj region was at the bottom of the list of the then 17 regions, although it had a better performance of 79.53%. In 2024, the overall pass percentage of the region was 78.254%.Girls have significantly outperformed boys in the Prayagraj region, recording a pass percentage of 78.69% compared to 68.02% among boys.The Prayagraj region, which is among the largest CBSE regions in terms of student participation, registered a total of 1,25,795 candidates for the Class XII examinations this year. Out of them, 1,24,331 students appeared, while 90,054 cleared the examsA closer analysis of the data reveals a substantial gender gap in academic performance. While 74,036 boys registered for the examination, 72,918 appeared and 49,598 passed. On the other hand, 51,759 girls registered, 51,413 appeared, and 40,456 passed the examination.The Prayagraj region conducted examinations across 1,101 schools and 320 examination centres, reflecting the scale of the examination process in eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas covered under the regional jurisdiction.The results have also drawn attention to the outstanding performance of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the region.Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded an impressive pass percentage of 99%, while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas achieved 98.42% success.Govt schools performed strongly with a pass percentage of 87.71%, significantly higher than independent schools, which recorded 72.74%.According to former assistant commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Shalini Dikshit: “The results offer valuable lessons for policymakers and school administrators.
