Nagpur: CBSE Class 10 students who were counting on their second board exam results to improve scores and secure a seat in top junior colleges in Nagpur, have been left disappointed as admissions are winding up and the central board has not declared results.State board’s Common Admission Process (CAP) second-last chance of registration ended on Friday with academic session scheduled from July 15, which means CBSE Class 10 students shifting here have to settle with whichever college they were earlier allotted. The final round of admission is scheduled for July 16, which is for leftover seats in those colleges not picked by students.A CBSE school principal from Nagpur said “Many students applied to state board colleges through CAP and submitted the first board exam’s marksheet. Some of the academically brilliant students, who had already score around 95%, chose to appear for the optional second exam because even an improvement of 2 percentage points can prove to be a clincher when it comes to opting for a top college or a third preference institute.”These exams were conducted in May but till date results have not been declared. In the meantime, state board’s CAP has undergone multiple rounds and is now in its final lap. Another CBSE school principal from a North Nagpur said, “The whole purpose of a second board exam was that students should be able to increase their marks and get a shot at admission to a top college. But this entire thing has been made meaningless due to delayed result, no purpose was served by appearing for second exams.”While in Nagpur, seats in state board junior colleges consistently remain vacant, it is the top two or three colleges where admissions fill up within the first or maximum second round. “It was these colleges were our kids needed the edge. And the second board exam was an avenue to achieve that, but that’s gone in this academic year,” said the principal.TOI tried reaching out to CBSE for a statement when results will be declared but did not get any response.State board junior colleges will start their academic schedule from next week, as the final admission round is currently underway.# CAP SPECIAL ROUND 2 SCHEDULE 2026-27Vacant seat display: July 9, 2pmRegistration and Part-1 correction: July 10, 11am to July 11, 6pmPreference form (Part-2) filling and locking: July 10, 11am to July 11, 6pmAllotment process: July 12Allotment list published: July 13, 10amAdmission confirmation at allotted college: July 13, 11am to July 14, 6pmNext special round schedule announced: July 14, 6.30pmJunior colleges to start: July 15Vacant seat display: July 16, 12pm
