The Reliance Communications Limited on Sunday said officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation carried out a search and seizure operation at the residence of Grace Thomas, a non-executive and non-independent director of the company, on May 9.
In a regulatory filing, RCom said the search was conducted in connection with her earlier role as a director at Reliance Telecom Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of RCom.
During the operation, CBI officials took possession of personal details, a copy of a forensic audit report relating to Reliance Communications, Reliance Infratel and Reliance Telecom prepared by BDO India, along with a box file containing accounts records and income tax computations of Reliance Telecom.
The company said the action is not expected to have any impact on its financials or operations and that business continues in the normal course. The search has been carried out under the provisions of Sections 105 and 185 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, in a case involving alleged offences under the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act, the filing said.
Reliance Communications is currently undergoing corporate insolvency resolution proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
