Times News NetworkChandigarh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday submitted two chargesheets in cases of alleged diversion of funds linked to the Haryana government and Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL).One chargesheet, concerning misappropriation of Haryana govt funds, was filed before the Special Judge, CBI, Panchkula. Two private individuals identified as recipients of proceeds of crime have been named. This is the second chargesheet in the Haryana case.Earlier, CBI had chargesheeted 15 accused, including three govt officials, six bankers, two companies and four private persons.The second chargesheet, related to CSCL, was filed before the CBI’s Special Judge in Chandigarh. Seven accused have been named, including five bank officials, one CSCL official and one private person. This is the first chargesheet in the CSCL case.The chargesheets cite offences of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, forgery, cheating and violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act.CBI had taken over one case from the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana, involving eight departments, and two cases from the Economic Offences Wing, Chandigarh, relating to CSCL and CREST.The agency has pegged losses at Rs 504 crore in the Haryana case and Rs 153 crore in Chandigarh. Investigations are continuing and more chargesheets are expected.
