Srinagar, Sep 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three people, including a Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) and an Agricultural Extension Assistant (AEA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Department, in a bribery case linked to the release of a subsidy under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The third accused is a private individual, the CBI said.
The case was registered on September 19 following a complaint alleging that the SDAO had demanded ₹35,000 from the complainant for releasing the subsidy.
According to the CBI, the officer directed the complainant to hand over the bribe to either the AEA or the private individual.
The agency subsequently laid a trap and allegedly caught the AEA and the private individual red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant.
The SDAO was later arrested from his residence, the CBI said.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
