Prayagraj: A 19-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death after he was caught meeting his minor girlfriend at her house in Mahua Khara village under Manjhanpur police station limits in Kaushambi district early Friday.The girl’s family allegedly assaulted both of them with sticks, leaving the youth dead and the teenage girl injured. Police have arrested the girl’s mother and brother, while a search is on for two others.The deceased was identified as Shiv Prasad Lodhi (19), a resident of Dori Bagh near Osa Crossing in Manjhanpur. The 17-year-old girl sustained injuries while trying to save him from the assault and was admitted to a hospital.On receiving information, senior police officers rushed to the village and launched an investigation. A senior police officer said Shiv Prasad and the girl had been in a relationship for the past three years. According to the investigation, the youth left his home late Thursday to meet the girl at her residence in the neighbouring village of Mahua Khara. The girl’s family allegedly caught the two together and attacked them.Based on complaints lodged by the injured girl and the victim’s family, police have arrested her mother and brother. Two police teams have been formed to arrest the girl’s father and another brother.Family members of the deceased told police that Shiv Prasad had suffered multiple injuries and made a final phone call to his mother, pleading for help after being allegedly held captive by the girl’s family. They alleged that the accused later dumped the critically injured youth outside their house. He succumbed to his injuries before he could be taken to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj.Police have sent the body for postmortem and are investigating the case from all angles.
