Chennai: Metro ridership in the city crossed the one-crore mark for the second time this year in July, with 1.06 crore passengers travelling on the network. It is the highest monthly ridership recorded in 2026 so far, averaging 3.43 lakh commuters a day.The figure marks an increase from 96.75 lakh passengers (3.22 lakh a day) in June, when schools and colleges had just reopened. Ahmedabad: The health and food department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) inspected 1,689 food-related units across the city in July as part of its drive against unhygienic practices and food safety violations.During the monthlong inspection campaign, notices were issued to 511 establishments for unhygienic conditions and other regulatory lapses. AMC officials destroyed 1,543kg of inedible food and 1,066 litres of inedible liquid found during inspections.Five establishments were sealed in the month for unhygienic conditions. Prayagraj: In a significant order, the Allahabad High Court has restrained the entry and parking of vehicles inside Prayagraj’s Chandra Shekhar Azad Park, popularly known as Company Bagh.
