Patna: A special vigilance court in Muzaffarpur on Thursday convicted former district provident fund officer Pradeep Kumar in a 2014 bribery case and sentenced him to five years’ rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed fines of Rs 10,000 each under two provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Both sentences will run concurrently.According to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB), Pradeep was caught red-handed on Dec 9, 2014 while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant for activating commission on post office recurring deposit accounts.
