Kanpur: District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Thursday called upon trade associations, voluntary organisations, private institutions and social groups to actively participate in Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, saying the initiative can succeed only through public participation.Chairing a meeting with representatives of trade bodies and various institutions, the DM said the campaign is an opportunity to pay tribute to freedom fighters and the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the nation.He directed that tributes be paid to the district’s martyrs, statues of national heroes be decorated, and major markets, intersections and parks be adorned with tricolour-themed decorations during the campaign.The administration announced that the ITBP band would perform at designated locations. A Tiranga Concert will be organised at Phoolbagh and Bithoor, while a Tiranga Mela will be held at Motijheel. The city will also be illuminated with tricolour-themed lighting, rangoli and artworks inspired by the national flag.The DM directed officials to ensure maximum participation of students, youth, government employees, self-help groups, social organisations and the general public in Tiranga rallies. He said each rally should begin with the collective singing of Vande Mataram.He also instructed departments to decorate major government buildings, railway stations, bus terminals, hospitals, schools, markets and key intersections with tricolour-themed lighting and decorations. Schools have been asked to organise tricolour-themed artwork and painting competitions based on the lives of freedom fighters.In accordance with government directives, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be observed on August 14 to acquaint the younger generation with the tragedy of Partition and its historical significance.Meanwhile, the district administration has issued an advisory urging citizens to follow the prescribed Flag Code while displaying the National Flag during the campaign.
