Chandigarh: After days of sticky, energy-sapping humidity, widespread monsoon showers across the Tricity Thursday brought welcome relief, lowering temperatures and making outdoor conditions noticeably more pleasant.Chandigarh recorded 10.7 mm of rainfall, while the maximum temperature dropped to 31.4°C, nearly 3.8°C lower than the previous day and 2°C below normal, according to the IMD. Light to moderate rain was reported at several places across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula during the past 24 hours.The change was immediately reflected in the weather, with overcast skies and intermittent showers keeping daytime temperatures in check. The minimum temperature settled at 25°C, while relative humidity ranged between 70% and 86%, offering respite from the muggy conditions that had prevailed through much of the week.The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms and rain across the Tricity over the next five days. Day temperatures are expected to remain between 31°C and 35°C, suggesting the current spell of comparatively cooler and wetter weather is likely to continue.
