Ahmedabad: A 28-year-old social media influencer and makeup artist has claimed she was subjected to a caste-based derogatory comment after she posted a video alleging that a temple did not allow her to make Janmashtami reels. A video the influencer posted talking about the alleged experience went viral. Another Instagram user made a derogatory comment on this video, she told Isanpur police in her complaint filed on Wednesday.The complainant told police she had seen an invitation on the temple’s Instagram page asking influencers to visit and create Janmashtami reels. Upon calling the given number, she was told she and her family could visit. On Janmashtami, she had gone to the temple, located in the city’s west, with her mother and two sisters to make the reel she intended to post on Instagram. When they reached, temple volunteers allegedly stopped them from proceeding and making the video.The influencer then posted a video on the alleged incident on her Instagram account. As the video went viral, another user allegedly trolled her by making a video using her photograph and posting a derogatory comment referring to her caste. The woman said she submitted a screenshot of the comment to police along with a copy of her Scheduled Caste certificate. Police have registered a case against the user.
