Berhampur: A case was registered against the headmaster of a govt-run upper primary school at a village in Gajapati district for harassing a female colleague. The case was registered based on the complaint lodged by the woman, an assistant teacher, police said on Wednesday. “We have registered a case under appropriate sections of the BNS against the headmaster. A notice has also been served to him directing him not to commit such illegal activities towards the teacher any more. We will be forced to arrest him if he repeats such offences,” Bhagaban Pujari, inspector in-charge of the local police station, said. The headmaster has refuted the woman’s allegation levelled against him and claimed that she lodged the complaint because he did not sanction her leave for an extended period. The headmaster, who is around 50 years old, has been working in the school for the past eight years, while the woman, aged about 27 and a mother of a child, has been working there for the past six years. The woman alleged that he sent some unwanted messages to her mobile phone. He has also called her to his chamber frequently without any work. She had earlier lodged a complaint with the block education officer but since he could not take any action, she lodged an FIR against the headmaster.
