Bengaluru: Cyber crime police have registered a suo motu case against an X account holder for posting “derogatory” comments on state home minister G Parameshwara after a Sri Siddhartha College professor allegedly proposed to a student in the classroom.While monitoring social media platforms on March 27, police found the post from the handle ‘sabhyastha’. A video clip from a regional news channel about the professor allegedly proposing to the student was uploaded with a caption referring to the home minister and a religion.Police said the content, deemed derogatory, appeared to have been deliberately shared with the intention to incite hatred and hurt the religious sentiments of sections of society. The post was widely shared.A case has been registered under the Information Technology Act and BNS (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class).
