TARN TARAN : A wedding in Jhamka village turned into a spectacle of flying currency when videos showed the ground buried under showered notes — sparking wild rumours of crores being splurged before the truth finally came to light.On February 14, the usually calm village Jhamka pulsed with music, colour and celebration as a grand wedding ceremony unfolded.The groom’s procession arrived in full Punjabi style — dhol beats , relatives dancing with raised hands, and friends forming circles around the DJ setup of Majha Block DJ. As the music intensified, so did the energy.Then came the moment that would soon send social media into a frenzy. Members of the groom’s family and his friends began showering currency notes over the bride while dancing to the DJ’s electrifying tunes.What started as handfuls quickly turned into cascades. Notes fluttered through the air , spinning under decorative lights before settling on the ground.Within minutes, the floor was no longer visible. It appeared as though a thick carpet of money had covered the entire area. Speculation with regards to the quantity of money spread rapidly. Some claimed the family had showered ₹8.5 crore. Others insisted the amount must have crossed ₹10 crore. A few estimated it at around ₹10 lakh. With each forward and repost, the figures grew larger.The visuals fueled the imagination — after all, the ground truly seemed buried under currency.As the rumours spiralled, Nishan Singh, owner of Majha Block DJ, decided to address the claims directly. Going live on social media, he clarified that the wedding had indeed taken place on February 14 in Jhamka village.“Yes, notes were showered during the marriage but the claims of crores are completely wrong”, said he.He explained that the total amount was approximately ₹3 lakh, mostly in smaller denominations such as ₹10 notes — which made the pile appear far larger on camera.“People are uploading and sharing the video with exaggerated claims only to get views .This is not good. I appeal to everyone not to spread misinformation for the sake of views”, he said.
