Ahmedabad: A 66-year-old man from Isanpur on Saturday filed a complaint after he was allegedly cheated of Rs 1.8 lakh in a debit card swap fraud at an ATM kiosk. The incident occurred between March 21 and March 23 at an ATM near a temple in Govindwadi.According to the FIR filed with Isanpur police, the victim went to withdraw cash when an unidentified man struck up a conversation inside the ATM cabin. During the interaction, the accused allegedly swapped the victim’s debit card with another card and managed to observe his PIN. Later, Rs 1.1 lakh was withdrawn from the victim’s bank account through multiple ATM transactions, while Rs 70,000 was spent on purchasing gold.The fraud came to light when the victim noticed unauthorized transactions. Police have registered a case and are scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused. Isanpur police registered a case of cheating and began an investigation.
