Guwahati: A student was severely injured after a car lost control and fell into a roadside drain in the city’s Narengi area on Friday.The incident took place in the early morning hours. Traffic police from Pragjyotishpur police station have not been able to identify the student yet.“The car, which bore the registration of Kamrup (Metro), veered off the road before plunging into a nearby drain. The impact left the vehicle partially submerged,” an officer said.Locals and passengers rushed to the spot immediately after the accident. “The incident happened near Bonda, on the outskirts of the city. The student was alone in the car and she was returning from her college in Bonda when the accident occurred,” the officer added.The student was on the Narengi–Chandrapur Road when she took a sharp turn, causing the vehicle to lose control and fall into a roadside drain. Locals present at the scene said the girl survived the accident. They added that she was rescued shortly after the incident and provided with immediate assistance.Police, who have seized the vehicle, said they are unsure whether the student was under the influence of alcohol or if something else caused the accident.
