Udupi: A man died after a car allegedly hit his scooter on NH-66 near the Arate bridge at Muvattumudi in Hemmadi village of Kundapur taluk on Monday.The deceased, Ajith Paul Lewis, was riding a scooter from Kundapur towards Trasi along the left side of the road, when a car driven by Abid Abusaliha from the Trasi/Bhatkal side towards Kundapur, allegedly moved onto the wrong side and hit the scooter head-on. Lewis sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur where doctors examined him and declared him dead. Kundapur traffic police registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
