The accident occured near Sector 57 police post at 1am on Friday

Noida: A car that was being driven at high speed rammed the rear end of a scrap-laden truck near the Sector 57 police post on Friday, causing the truck to overturn and catch fire. The drivers of both vehicles escaped with minor injuries, police and fire officials said.The accident took place around 1am at the Sector 57 crossing. Police said Lalit, a resident of Badarpur, was travelling towards Sector 61 in his Hyundai Astor when his car collided with the truck. The truck was approaching the crossing from the Khoda side.The impact caused the truck to lose balance and overturn. Soon after, a suspected short circuit in the truck’s cabin led to a fire. The loud impact alerted people in the vicinity, following which several passersby and motorists gathered at the spot. Traffic was also disrupted briefly.People helped the drivers get out of their vehicles and attempted to douse the flames. The fire in the car was brought under control before the fire department arrived.Chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said they were informed about the blaze at 1am. Two fire tenders were sent to the spot. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within about 20 minutes. The cops then removed the damaged vehicles from the road.Sector 24 police station SHO Umesh Chandra Nathani said no complaint had been received from either party so far. Further action would depend on the complaints and circumstances of the accident, he said.
