Chennai: Four people, including three software engineers from Andhra Pradesh, were injured after their car lost control and plunged into a 10foot-deep roadside ditch near the Mudichur-Varadarajapuram toll gate on Outer Ring Road (ORR) early on Friday.According to police, IT companies located in Perungalathur regularly arrange weekly transportation for software engineers from Andhra Pradesh. In a similar arrangement, a car carrying three engineers travelled from Andhra Pradesh to Chennai early on Friday morning.The occupants of the car were identified as Madhusudhanan, 24, a software engineer from Andhra Pradesh, two other engineers, and the driver, Nazeer, 30.Police said that while the vehicle was proceeding at high speed near the Mudichur-Varadarajapuram toll gate, the driver lost control. The car rammed a toll fee signboard and then toppled into the ditch. The vehicle was mangled and all four occupants sustained injuries in the accident. On receiving information, police from the Tambaram traffic investigation wing went to the spot and rescued the injured. They were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.Madhusudhanan suffered a spinal fracture and is said to be in a critical condition. Preliminary enquiries suggested that driver fatigue caused the accident, as Nazeer reportedly drove in a drowsy state. Further investigation is underway.
