The truck driver fled the spot after the accident, police said

Gurgaon: Four people, including a car driver and three passengers, were injured after a trailer truck triggered a chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles near the IFFCO Chowk flyover on Thursday. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident, police said.According to a complaint filed by Pawan Sharma, a resident of Sector 5, the accident occurred around 2.30am on the Delhi-Jaipur carriageway near IFFCO Chowk. Sharma, who works as a driver, was driving a Swift Dzire attached to a private company in Sector 48 and was transporting three employees — Naunidh, Rifaqat and Wasib — from the city to Shahdara in Delhi.Police said a trailer truck bearing registration number HR55AC0744, allegedly being driven at high speed, rammed a canter truck travelling ahead of it. The impact caused the vehicle to cross the road divider and collide with Sharma’s car travelling on the opposite carriageway. A Thar SUV travelling behind Sharma’s vehicle was also involved in the collision.Sharma and the three passengers sustained injuries, while the vehicles suffered extensive damage. The trailer truck driver allegedly fled the scene with the vehicle after the accident.Sharma told TOI, “We left the company around 2.15am and reached near the IFFCO Chowk flyover within 15 minutes. I was heading towards Delhi when a canter truck on the opposite carriageway suddenly crossed the divider and struck the right side of my car. After that, everything went blank. I regained consciousness in pain. God saved all of us that day.”Passers-by shifted the injured to the civil hospital. The three passengers were later admitted to Medanta Hospital by company officials. Sharma, who suffered a fracture in his left arm and multiple injuries to his head and near his eye, was admitted to a private hospital. Police said all four victims were stable.A team from DLF Phase-II police station reached Medanta Hospital and collected the medico-legal case reports of the injured. Subsequently, Sharma submitted a written complaint along with his medical documents, alleging that the accident occurred due to the rash and negligent driving of the trailer truck driver.Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (endangering human life or personal safety by a rash or negligent act causing hurt) and 324(4) (mischief) of BNS at DLF Phase-II police station. Police said efforts are underway to identify and trace the truck driver.
