Nagpur: Elections for Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa will be held on March 24 with several candidates from Vidarbha region in the fray.Prominent contenders include Adv Asif Qureshi, Adv Parijat Pande, and Adv Anil Gowardipe from Nagpur, all of whom have previously served as members and chairmen of the bar council. Adv Ashish Deshmukh from Yavatmal and Adv Motisingh Mohta from Akola are also among those with prior experience in the council.A number of advocates are contesting for the first time, including Sanjay More, Sandeep Nandeshwar, Vaishali Khadekar, Priyanka Chokhare, Uma Bhattad, Sagar Lambat, Komal Hajare, Chandrakant Wankhede, Aruna Gulhane and Sahebrao Gawali. The polls are significant as advocates will elect representatives, a key body governing legal profession and addressing issues related to lawyers and judicial infrastructure. TNN
