Canacona: Canacona Municipal Council has removed vendors illegally occupying the street near the municipal office in Chaudi after receiving complaints.Chairperson Laxuman Pagui said several motorists complained that vendors were obstructing traffic. They have been asked to shift into the market complex.Pagui said vendors in front of the Vernekar building have caused traffic jams.He said fruit and vegetable vendors have been asked to submit an application to the council for selling their goods, and they will be given space in the market. “We will not allow them to sit along the road and obstruct traffic,” he said.Despite the appeal, the chairperson said that they have not received any applications from vendors.The vegetable market, built ten years ago for Rs 6 crore, has been underutilised. A few traders operate from the ground floor of the market complex.
