Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali recently shared a small but stressful airport incident that ended on a thankful note. The director said he left his bag behind at a shop inside Mumbai airport and could not go back in after exiting the premises. He said Mumbai Police stepped in to help recover it. The update came from Ali’s Instagram Stories and quickly drew attention, not just for the mishap itself, but for his public praise of the police officer who assisted him.

According to News18, Imtiaz Ali used Instagram Stories to thank Mumbai Police after they helped him retrieve the bag he had left behind at the airport. Sharing the incident in his own words, he wrote, “Forgot my bag at a shop inside and came out of the airport and into a fix!! couldn’t enter back!! But @mumbaipolice was there to help. Mr Nazim Pathan went out of his way for me. Thank you sir, Jao Hind! (sic)” The post underlined how quickly the situation was resolved once the authorities got involved.The episode stood out because the problem could have easily turned into a longer delay. Instead, Ali’s note pointed to prompt support on the spot. His message also focused on the officer he named directly, Mr Nazim Pathan, for helping him through the issue after he had already exited the airport and was unable to re-enter.

On the work front, Ali is preparing for the release of his next film, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga.’ The upcoming romantic drama stars Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah. The recently released teaser points to a love story set against the backdrop of conflict and separation.One of the teaser’s key lines comes near the end, when Vedang’s character says, “Main vaapas aaunga, (I will come back),” setting the emotional tone for the story. The makers have also confirmed the release date. In their announcement, they said, “Imtiaz Ali’s next, a charming story of love and longing to release in cinemas on 12th June, 2026.”The film also brings Ali back together with A.R. Rahman and Irshad Kamil.
