Calangute: Calangute police on Monday arrested a spa operator in the North Goa coastal belt for allegedly raping a 23-year-old Uttar Pradesh woman after luring her to Goa with a job promise.Awadesh Rai was produced before the judicial magistrate first class, Mapusa, on Tuesday morning and remanded to three days’ police custody.In her complaint, the survivor said she arrived in Goa on July 10 after being called to work at a spa allegedly operated by Rai in the Calangute-Candolim belt. She alleged the sexual assault took place that night when Rai took her to a hotel room, raped her, wrongfully confined her and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. She said she did not raise an alarm as she feared for her life.
