Jalpaiguri: Trinamool candidate Swapna Barman on Tuesday moved the Jalpaiguri circuit bench of the Calcutta High Court, alleging that her resignation from the railways was yet to be approved ahead of filing her nomination from Rajganj constituency.Hearing the plea, the court directed the railways to consider her resignation within 48 hours. Barman, an Asian Games gold medallist, had joined as a staff and welfare inspector in the Alipurduar division in 2020. She first tendered her resignation on March 16 and later resubmitted it, seeking urgent intervention amid concerns that delays and the absence of a no-objection certificate could hinder her nomination process. The Railways, however, alleged that Barman breached service discipline by attending a political meeting on March 9 while still in service.
