Following the two-year ban of Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav for age discrepancy, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Friday underlined its commitment towards proper age verification.

In a release, the CAB said it “identified certain discrepancies/inconsistencies” in Rohit’s documents during a routine verification process and promptly informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “Following due examination, the BCCI took appropriate action and removed the player from the India under-19 squad for the Australia series.”

After further verification of Rohit’s age, the BCCI replaced him with another player.

“The CAB remains committed to ensuring proper verification and adherence to prescribed regulations governing age group cricket,” said the release.
