Buxar: Buxar DM Sahila has ordered an inquiry into grievances raised by students of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School at Rampur in Kesath block and constituted a committee headed by deputy development commissioner Niharika Chhavi.The committee will inspect all welfare department-run hostels and review food, drinking water, electricity, security and other basic facilities, recommending corrective measures wherever deficiencies are found.The action came a day after more than 100 students walked nearly 40km to Buxar and staged a protest over alleged irregularities and problems at the school.The district administration said the district welfare officer was informed that some students had left the campus. Teachers were sent after them to ensure their safety, while the welfare officer proceeded towards Buxar. Officials later spoke to the students about their grievances.The administration said power supply had remained disrupted for several days, with generators being used for cooking, drinking water and other essential requirements.The DM directed the district welfare officer to take necessary action and furnish an explanation.“Students’ safety, protection, health and access to basic facilities in residential schools and hostels are the administration’s top priority,” DM said.
